Spring Update to Catalog, Effective January 1, 2022

Tuition, Fees, and Cost of Attendance  

  • The required tuition deposit is temporarily reduced to $100 for all incoming students and remains in effect for Spring term.
  • Changes to the tuition cost per trimester are effective for Spring term.
  • Student Tuition Recovery Fund (STRF): Beginning with the Spring 2022 term, USAHS will collect the STRF fee from students attending the San Marcos, California, campus as well as from those students enrolled in Flex or MS-SLP programs in other states and whose local address on record is located in California at the time tuition is first charged. This one-time, nonrefundable fee is pursuant to California Code of Regulations §76120.

Refund Policy    

  • Tuition Refund Policy for MOT, OTD, DPT, MS-SLP Programs: Refunds of deposits or tuition due to cancellation or withdrawal may now occur within the first seven days of instruction. (Formerly within the first seven days of the tuition deposit.)
  • Notice of Cancellation for PPOTD, tDPT, MHA, MHS, EdD, MSN, DNP, Post-Graduate Nursing Certificate Programs: Notice of cancellation and refund may occur within the first week of instruction. (Formerly within one week of signing the Enrollment Agreement and making an initial payment.)

Veteran’s Benefits  

  • The OTD, Flex OTD, DPT, and MS-SLP programs on the Dallas, Texas, campus are now approved for veteran’s benefits.

Flex OTD Curriculum  

  • The Flex OTD program is now offered in an 11-term curriculum for all students. However, the University will continue to provide instructional and academic support services to students enrolled in the Dallas Flex OTD program who choose to remain in the 12-trimester curriculum  instead of transitioning to the updated 11-trimester curriculum  (effective January 1, 2022). The University will provide reasonable time for enrolled students to complete their program of study in accordance with its Leave of Absence (LOA), Withdrawal, Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP), Continuous Enrollment, and other applicable academic policies.

MHS Program  

  • The MHS program is undergoing a curriculum review and is not currently enrolling new students.

Privacy Policy  

  • USAHS departments will formally communicate with students using the USAHS email address.

Complaints Policy   

  • The following states have updated the contact information to file a complaint: Florida, District of Columbia, Michigan, and Utah.

MSN, Adult Gerontology Nurse Practitioner Role Specialty   

  • This new specialization is now offered to students enrolled in the MSN program.

Nursing, MSN, Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner – Primary Care Role Specialty  

  • This new specialization is now offered to students enrolled in the MSN program.

MSN-FNP Curriculum  / DNP-FNP Curriculum  

  • The Family Nurse Practitioner role specialties will now have one intensive in the NUR 7570  course (formerly one intensive in NUR 7575 and one intensive in NUR 7580).

Additional Changes

01/11/2022

The Commuter Alternatives Program (CAP)  is revised. Students must reenroll for the program each term along with other requirements. 

The Parking  policies for each campus is revised. Students at the Miami campus must park on the designated floors within 10 minutes of entering the garage; otherwise the badge is deactivated, which impacts exiting the garage. The cost to reactivate the parking badge is $25.00. Overnight parking is not allowed at any campus.

The GRE requirement for admission into the MS-SLP program  is suspended for the Fall 2022 and Spring 2023 terms.

02/24/2022

The completion of guided observation hours as a requirement for admission into the MS-SLP program  is revised to allow prospective students to apply and be admitted while completing the requirement provided specific criteria are met by the prospective student. All observation hours must be completed on or before the orientation date. 

The Transfer Credit Policy  is revised to include the following changes:

  • P/Pass grades are accepted only if it can be confirmed via the official transcript key that the minimum required grade to earn a P/Pass grade is a B or better.
  • A course syllabus is required for each course being evaluated for potential transfer credit.
  • The awarding of transfer credit is based on the assessment of curricular alignment and whether the use of transfer credit will allow the student to meet all USAHS program and course learning outcomes. Final approval of transfer credit is authorized by the Program Director.
  • Forms must be submitted to the Registrar.
  • Students are encouraged to submit a request for a transfer credit review at least 2 months prior to the start of their first term of enrollment at USAHS.
  • A $75.00 fee will be assessed for each course accepted in transfer and applied to the students USAHS transcript. The only exception to the transfer credit fee is in instances of USAHS internal transfers.
  • A maximum of 50% of a USAHS degree program requirements may be earned through the combination of alternative credit (external transfer, internal transfer, Prior Learning Assessment or Advanced Standing). The remaining 50% of the total credits must be completed within the desired USAHS program.

The Grading System  is revised to include changes to the Incomplete grade and to add the In-Progess grade.
