PAC 6522 - Internal Medicine SCPEHours: 4 Supervised Clinical Practice Experience (SCPE) core rotations are four weeks in length and take place in off-campus medical facilities. This SCPE is designed to introduce the physician assistant student to the fundamentals of internal medicine. The understanding of various medical disorders is accomplished through accurate analysis and interpretation of history and physical examination findings, etiology, epidemiology, pathophysiology, differential diagnosis, evaluation and interpretation of diagnostic studies, development of clinical and medical management plans, and follow-up care and prevention recommendations. Students manage medical patients across the lifespan and perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures under appropriate supervision. This rotation includes collaborative teamwork with multiple healthcare disciplines, teaching rounds, lectures, written and oral presentations, and additional assignments as assigned by the program and preceptor. Prerequisites: Successful completion of PA didactic coursework.
