Fall Catalog Revisions

Academic Calendar

2024–2025 Academic Calendar    

  • The drop date for all subterms is the 7th day of the subterm. 

Campuses and Clinical Sites

Degrees and Certificates    

  • Now offering the revised DPT curriculum (7 term and 9 term).
  • Now offering Hybrid Immersion MOT at the San Marcos and St. Augustine campuses.
  • Now offering SLP at the San Marcos campus.

Parking  

  • Includes information on parking for hybrid immersion and SLP students.

Admissions, Records, and Registration

Application for Admissions MS-SLP  

  • SLP students admitted with pending prerequisites must complete the prereqs at USAHS within Term 1 and/or Term 2. 

Leave of Absence (LOA)  

  • Students who are contingently admitted in their first term and have not completed all admission requirements are not eligible for an LOA.
  • Students are allowed one LOA throughout the duration of their program.
  • Students may not request short-term LOA or administrative LOA; it is used solely at the University’s discretion.
  • An LOA results in a grade of WL for all enrolled courses. Grades of WL are not calculated in the maximum number of course withdrawals; however, they are counted toward the pace and maximum timeframe calculations under the Satisfactory Academic Progress policy.

Address Changes  

  • Students must update their local address before the first day of class for the trimester and/or clinical rotation.
  • Students who move to a state where USAHS does not have approvals to offer the program or where it does not meet state licensure requirements risk being dismissed from the program.

International Students Applying for Admission   

  • Students in Flex or Hybrid Immersion or other distance education programs or courses are not eligible for the Exchange Visitor Program. 

University Policies

Title IX Policy  

  • Policy complies with federal regulations.  

Student Code of Conduct   

  • Updated to ensure a safe environment and foster a culture of integrity and professionalism reflective of the mission and core values of the University. Students should ensure they are familiar with the expectations and requirements in the Student Code of Conduct. 

Accessibility and Accommodations    

  • Available accommodations include those who are pregnant, postpartum, or nursing.

Professional Misconduct Policy      

  • Clarifies the jurisdiction and scope of the PMC.

Faculty/Staff and Student Relationships  

  • Faculty and staff must not engage in consensual romantic or sexual relationships with current students, and preexisting relationships must be reported to HR immediately.

Academic Policies

Trimester/Terms     

  • Subterms (including D and E) began in Summer 2024 term. 
  • Now includes the new Subterm D and Subterm E modules that occur in the DPT 7-term curriculum and the DPT 9-term curriculum.

Attendance and Academic Engagement    

  • Students who do not participate in academic engagement for more than 14 consecutive calendar days are subject to program withdrawal.
  • Now includes attendance requirements for Hybrid Immersion pathways.

Grading  

  • Grade Change: Grade Change policy is now located in the Grading section.
    • Students have five days after the last day of the term to request a grade change.
    • The student must request the change by email to the course instructor and the PD.
    • There is no additional appeal option after the decision from the instructor/PD.
  • Grading Policies for DPT 7-Term Curriculum and 9-Term Curriculum 
    • Now includes new policies specific to the DPT 7-term curriculum and DPT 9-term curriculum, such as Signature Assignments, Practicals and Skills Checks, and the 70% Rule.
  • WL Grades
    • Added a grade of WL (Leave of Absence Withdraw) to denote that a student took a Leave of Absence once a term has started, withdrew from those courses, and will receive a grade of “WL” on their transcript for those courses.

Financial Information

Tuition and Cost of Attendance   

  • Now includes tuition and cost of attendance for the Fall 2024 term.

Financial Assistance Programs  

  • Interest rates and fees originating on or after October 1, 2023, and before October 1, 2024, are now available.

Safety, Security, and Technology

Safety on Campus   

  • The phone number to report any security concerns on the St. Augustine campus has changed to 904-466-4537.
  • Security phone numbers are located on the back of student IDs. Students also should save their campus’ security phone number in their cell phone.

Technology Requirements  

  • Student’s laptops/computers must now have at least 16 GB of memory.

College of Rehabilitative Sciences

DPT Flex DPT  

  • Now includes the plan of study for the DPT 7-term curriculum and the DPT 9-term curriculum.

  • The CAPTE accreditation statement is updated with the contact information for the new program director for the Austin campus DPT program, Dr. Chris Wise.
